Listening to the Sounds of Cancer
National Healthy Skin Month brings encouraging news for the prevention and diagnosis of the most deadliest form of skin cancer. Researchers have been able to produce sound energy by aiming a laser at melanoma cells in a human blood sample. It only required 10 cells, and a bit of amplification of the sound energy, to detect the melanin. Perfection of this technique could lead to very early detection of melanoma cells in the body and a way to track cells if they spread.

The best way to prevent the progression of the conditions is to detect them early and get treatment when they are easiest to cure. As the holiday season approaches it may become challenging for someone who lives with diabetes. Typically our meal plans change. If you travel, it may affect the timing of meals. Office parties, holiday baking, and a general focus on food during the holidays presents almost daily temptation.
One good way to deal with the challenge is to face the challenge by making a game plan and making a list of things you can do to manage your diabetes healthfully during the holidays.
