2006 Community Interventions


In 2005-2006, the Georgia Division of Aging Services, the University of Georgia, and the aging services network partnered to develop, implement, and evaluate two Community Interventions called “Serving Up Fruits and Vegetables Everyday” and “Seniors Taking Charge of Diabetes.” Results from the outcome evaluation of these interventions increased fruit and vegetable intake, physical activity, physical function, and diabetes self-management in older adults at senior centers.  Below are the intervention lesson plans, bingo games, chair exercises, evaluation reports, and a PowerPoint presentation summarizing the outcomes and the benefits to participants.

2007 Community Interventions


In 2006-2007, the Georgia Division of Aging Services, the University of Georgia, and the aging services network are partnering to develop, implement, and evaluate two Community Interventions called “Seniors Taking Charge of Diabetes and Heart Health” and “Seniors Fight Falls and Fractures.” The goals are to improve eating habits, physical activity, home safety, and screening and self-management of chronic diseases in older adults at senior centers throughout Georgia.  Listed below are the intervention’s lesson plans, bingo game, and chair exercises with balls, and evaluation report.

2008 Community Interventions

In 2007-2008, the Georgia Division of Aging Services, the University of Georgia, and the aging services network are partnering to develop, implement, and evaluate a Community Intervention called “Seniors Taking Charge of Health.” The goals are to encourage older people to get checked; talk with their doctor about their health; increase physical activity; promote healthy eating; take medications properly; improve home safety; and reduce the risk of falling.
