Tell us about your family and your accomplishments.
I was born in 1928, married in 1949 to my wife until her death in 1995. We have two children and one grandson. I served in the Army where I fought in the Korean War on the front line. I enjoy being able to get out and go fishing and hunting. I have also enjoyed over the years grilling and having a gathering with who every may show up to eat.
Do you visit a senior center?
Yes. Treutlen County Senior Citizens Center
How long have you been attending the center? What made you start going to the center?
Eighteen months. I go for the activities.
What kinds of activities do you enjoy at the center
All activities.
How has the center helped you Age Well and Live Well?
By eating healthier, socializing with others, and exercising.
Do you volunteer at your senior center or at other community organizations?
Yes. I serve as the Commander of the VFW and we raise money to help buy toiletry items for veterans who are hospitalized or in nursing homes. I visit veterans who are sick in the VA hospital.
What advice would you give to young people today on how to live a good long life?
Live a healthier lifestyle, have respect for the elderly, and be a good volunteer in your community.
