Tell us about your family and your accomplishments.
I was married for 27 years until my husband's death, have 1 daughter, 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grand children. Clarence and I had a grocery store for 22 years. I worked at several local stores and at the Post Office. Then I went to work at the Senior Center program over 30 years ago. I completed a Community Leadership course, taught Sunday School for 17 years., and was a Worthy Matron for Eastern Star for 4 years, a member of Jeffersonville Baptist WMU, member of the Sewing Club and crowned Mrs. Senior Twiggs County 2005.
What kinds of activites do you enjoy at the center?
Quilting, sewing and making crafts. I like helping out however I can.
How long have you been attending the center?
I started working and attending over 30 years ago. And now I'll be there untill I'm old enough to retire!
How has the center helped you Age Well and Live Well?
It keeps me active and busy. I love all the people; I enjoy the crafts, the activities and I like helping in the kitchen.
Do you volunteer at your senior center or at other community organizations?
I assist the center manager organize crafts and quilting projects. I do RSVP.
What advice would you give to young people today on how to live a good long life?
Faith in the Lord, a positive attitude and going to church. I see the glass of water as half full not as half empty. Stay active, enjoy your job, love people, don't hold a grudge, take your medicine and eat fruit every day.
