I was born in Georgia and lived in Forsyth County since I was 5 years old. I worked at Peachtree Doors for 25 years. I have 5 children.

Do you visit a senior center?

Yes, Forsyth County Senior Center.

How long have you been attending the center?

8 months. I attended SAFE Day (Seasoned Adult Fitness Event) at Forsyth County Central Park for health screenings and received information on Forsyth County Senior Center activities and services they provide and decided to check them out.

How has the center helped you Age Well and Live Well?

I signed up to participate in the Live Healthy Georgia, Seniors Taking Charge Community Intervention study. When asked to get a medical release from my doctor to participate, I told the Senior Center staff that I hadn't seen a doctor since I retired about 9 years ago. I then thought I couldn't participate in the study. The Forsyth Senior Center staff refered me to the local hospital to help me find a doctor. I came to the staff the next week and informed them that I had gotten an appointment with a local doctor. I was found in good health and sucessfully completed the study.

What advice would you give to young people today on how to live a good long life?

Eat right, exercise, don't smoke or do drugs.
