Tell us about your family and your accomplishments.

I was born in Arkansas at a place called Decent Lake. I grew up on a farm of cotton, corn and hay. I have a son who lives in El Paso and a daughter here in Georgia. I now live with my daughter. I have 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. I worked as a secretary in the Methodist Church, as a secretary for 18 years in the public school system, and several years as a secretary at the Chamber of Commerce. I always liked to work with people, especially children.

What made you start going to the center?

I was very lonely as I moved here from my home in Arkansas and did not know anyone and had no way to get around as my daughter works during the week. My daughter searched the internet and found the senior center.

What kinds of activities do you enjoy at the center?

Socializing with others and going on the planned outings. I love going on the trips very much.

How has the center helped you Age Well and Live Well?

Yes - I like the exercise classes, the speakers on health issues help me to take better care of myself. I like having my blood pressure checked at the center.

Do you volunteer at your senior center or at other community organizations?

No - I used to volunteer in Arkansas.
